“Everyone wishes for a couple to have a happy and perfect life after the wedding, but in my case, I waited for a ‘happily ever after’ that never existed. I had a tumultuous relationship with my husband and I never knew what it felt like to be loved for who I am. We separated after he introduced me to illegal substances and had an affair with a social escort. He even demanded sexual favours in exchange for monthly maintenance of our children.
In the darkest moment of my life – unemployed, penniless and homeless – I spent nights in public areas and tried taking my own life with sleeping pills and a razor. I was incarcerated for possession and consumption of illegal substances. But my life took a turn for the better upon my release when my good friend introduced me to SPIN.
For the first time in my life, I felt genuine happiness. With SPIN’s empathy and support, I learned to how to be brave even at my lowest points and even found a job to support my family. I started to appreciate the beauty around me and would like to encourage others to do the same: each failure is not an obstacle but a stepping stone, each piece of advice is not an insult but a guide to better yourself.”
