HCSA Academy Turns 2
The HCSA Academy celebrated its 2nd Anniversary in May!
HCSA Academy was set up with the aim of empowering and enabling HCSA’s beneficiaries and other vulnerable individuals with professional culinary skills required to secure stable employment in the F&B sector. This is done through a six-week course based on the Food Services skills framework by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG). Upon successful completion, graduates will earn a WSQ Higher Certificate in Culinary Arts, with job placements facilitated – giving them a new lease of life and level playing field to support themselves and their families.
Since its inception in May 2018, HCSA Academy has been run by four very dedicated individuals – Chef Wee Bin, Chef Sony, Chef Boon and Ma’am Norie. They have seen through 12 batches of graduates and have undeniably played a significant role in every culinary trainee’s journey in the Academy.
Fadhil had written these thank you notes for each of them and though he may have graduated from the 12th intake of our culinary training course, his gratitude echoes that of our graduates over the past 2 years.
To Chef Wee Bin,
“You were the one who got us moving. Everything that you taught us was based on your experience, which made it easy to adapt. You always trusted us with the task at hand and guided us to become a better cook, as well as a better person. Thank you, Chef!”
To Chef Sony,
“Thank you for teaching us in a way that made us feel appreciated. You raised your expectations of us, only to make us a better cook. You have helped us to understand what is important and what to look out for even before we start our day by sharing your own experiences.”
To Chef Boon,
“You have been like a ‘father’ to us throughout the entire course. Because of what you taught us, it made us realise the importance of ‘simple things’ like hygiene and safety in the kitchen. If it wasn’t for your support and guidance, we won’t be where we are now. Thank you, Chef!
To Ma’am Norie,
“Thank you for being a mentor, ‘mother’ and ‘sister’ during our course. Without you, we may not have has the perseverance and discipline to finish the culinary course. Your words of encouragement are what motivates us to keep going, even till today. Thank you for the great experience and for all the assistance you have rendered us.”
