HEAD, HCSA ACADEMY
Chef Sony Haq has over two decades of leadership and management experience in curriculum design, consultancy, academic administration, F&B training and Operations. He formulates the strategy for HCSA Academy’s social impact and sustainability, leads the Academy team and liaises with various government agencies and partners to ensure compliance.
Over the course of his career, Chef Sony has worked with established institutions locally and globally, such as At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy, and EASB School of Management in Singapore and the Taj Group of Hotels, National Institute of Hotel Management in India, and set up Q.uriosity Culinary Academy in Vietnam. He has also developed curriculum for other reputed culinary schools in Singapore. As an academician, Sony played a pivotal role in the development of the first WSQ Diplomas in Culinary Arts, Pastry & Bakery and Food & Beverage Management in Singapore. He was also involved in the conceptualisation and management of the first WSQ National Assessment Centre (Singapore) for F&B sector.
Sony holds a Bachelor of Science (BioChemistry) from Kerala University, a Bachelor of Hotel Management from the National Council of Hotel Management, India; and a Diploma in Training Design and Adult Learning from SkillsFuture Singapore. Beyond the office life, he loves to play tennis, avid fan of football, and has a keen interest in wines, cheese, maths and science.
