Father’s Day 2022: Celebrating ‘Super Dads’

This Father's Day, we collaborate with Golden Moments to honour and celebrate the fathers from HCSA Community Services who found strength and courage from their love for their children to overcome their dark past. They are our super dads not because they are perfect, but because they have stepped up (when they fell) and changed for the better!
We share the stories of 3 of our ‘Super Dads’ – Feroz, Gabriel and Ram – our inspiring alumni of Highpoint Halfway House who are doing amazing in their recovery journey for their families.

“Family is the heart of a home.”

Feroz is a truly inspiring ex-offender who has made many positive changes in his life upon his release from prison for a drug offence.

Though it took some time for him to fix his strained relationship with his wife and children, his earnestness and love for them brought him back to what he treasures the most: family.

Currently, he is the lead volunteer at HCSA Highpoint Halfway House’s A.I.M. Society, an aftercare programme for ex-offenders. He
strives daily to be a good husband and father.

“Time together as a family is a gift.”

Gabriel, 63-year-old father of one, hopes to impart his life lessons and be a positive influence to his 18-year-old son.

He was imprisoned seven times for drug-related offences before deciding to stop and embark on his addiction recovery journey at the age of 35.

He has remained drug-free since then and is currently a recovery coach at HCSA Highpoint Halfway House who provides coaching and rehabilitative support for other recovering addicts. With his family in mind, Gabriel challenges himself daily to become a better person, and to build a better life.

“The love of a family is life’s greatest gift.”

Ram is a 45-year-old father whose strength and courage to beat his drug addiction for his kids – daughter (11) and son (6) – inspires us all.

Ram speaks very fondly of his lovely wife and two children, describing them as his ‘gifts from God’ and the reason that has kept him going.

Determined to be a good father, he never looked back and pushed forward to focus on his family and stay drug-free. At present, Ram is gainfully employed as a delivery driver and dreams of setting up his own delivery business as he enjoys travelling across Singapore and meet new people from all walks of life.

In support of our beneficiary fathers, this collaboration with Golden Moments, a local durian brand, produced a special ‘Super Dad’ Mao Shan Wang Durian Cake.

For every cake purchased, $10 will be donated in support of their journeys to lead more empowered lives and be the ‘Super Dads’ for their families!
